Ride of Silence

The Saint Petersburg Bicycle Club will join cycling clubs across the country and around the world on Wednesday May 20 to participate in the annual Ride of Silence. The event is held to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while riding on public roads. It is a somber, slow-paced procession where participants ride in total silence to raise awareness about bicycle safety and the legal rights of cyclists to share the road.

This year's ride will start at the North Shore Aquatic Center at 5:30p on May 20. Please join us -- membership isn't required to be part of this special event. We will ride south on Beach Dr, then west on Central Avenue to the Sunburst sculpture/roundabout in the EDGE District of downtown St Pete. After circling the roundabout, we will retrace the route back to the North Shore pool.

The Tampa Bay counties are leading the nation in cycling and pedestrian deaths and serious injuries. The court system is taking 4-8 YEARS to hold drivers accountable. Although this is a solemn, silent ride, it WILL speak louder than words! Your participation is crucial. Please join us!
